Shakeel Phinn: A Career Begins

On Saturday night at the Casino Lac Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec, a great line up of Quebec-based prospects and fledgling contenders stepped into the ring. And while the names Steven Butler, Pascal Villeneuve and Custio Clayton may have been the ones receiving more attention, a young boxer named Shakeel Phinn competed as well, making his pro debut. He stopped game Eddie Gates in round four, in the process giving fans both an impressive performance and a fun fight. If Saturday night was anything to go by, it won’t be long before Shakeel’s name is as prominent as the rest. Photos by maz mas. Video by Pierre Lavoie (WAY Productions).

Shout out to Eddie Gates for giving me my first experience as a professional boxer. You’re a true fighter! Words can’t express how amazing this feeling is! All the hard work I put in! All the hours in the gym! All the food I couldn’t eat! It all paid off last night! Got to start 2015 with a bang!
