The Fight City Podcast No. 51
It’s been a while since Alden Chodash took the helm for a full-fledged edition of our podcast, that is, one which ranges over a number of topics and keeps you engaged for possibly longer than you might like. But we’re back at full strength as Alden is joined by site editor Michael Carbert to discuss, among other things, yesterday’s lively press conference for the super middleweight showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant, as well as this Saturday’s top-notch heavyweight clash, Joshua vs Usyk, plus, a look back at the historic Evander Holyfield vs Riddick Bowe rivalry. Check it out:
“Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk: Joshua’s first fight of the new decade looks set to be IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev, but that uninspiring prospect could be followed by something altogether more competitive. We need to see more of Usyk at heavyweight before we can make any particularly lofty assertions, but his precision and work-rate would make him a very live dog against a revitalised, slimmed-down AJ. If he can win an eliminator against someone of the calibre of, say, Joseph Parker, Usyk more than deserves his shot in the latter half of the year and Joshua vs Usyk has the makings of a genuine heavyweight superfight.” From “Top 12 Fights We Want To See In 2020″ by Rob Lownie
