The Fight City Podcast No. 43

Welcome to a new edition of our podcast, with Alden Chodash once again at the helm and offering you an exclusive interview with Joe Smith Jr. who is set to face Eleider Alvarez in a must-watch light heavyweight showdown on August 22nd. Plus, a recap of the most recent PBC card, and a look back to two other historic battles in the 175 pound division, Archie Moore vs Harold Johnson and Jean Pascal vs Chad Dawson. Check it out:

“But that said, Smith’s days as a construction labourer may be numbered. With two upset knockouts, he is on the cusp of big money opportunities. Which only makes sense. He was a massive underdog in two significant fights and he won both by spectacular knockout. Indeed, his clean knockout of Bernard Hopkins stands as a truly historic event since it will go down as the final fight in the career of the former world champion and future Hall of Famer. As a result, it’s our KO Of The Year. And his first round demolition of Fonfara stands as our Upset Of The Year.”            From “2016 Fighter Of The Year”  by Michael Carbert

The Boxers Organizing Committee (BOC) supports Joe Smith Jr. and all other boxers. We believe that by bringing our industry together we can protect the boxers by giving them a voice and with our Supreme Court precedent, the promoters will be employers and boxers will be employees and like in the NFL and NFLPA and all the other major sports as well as SAG (which we have letters of support from all), boxers will have their union, the public will have true undisputed championship tournaments, and our industry will have a single corporate structure.
