The Fight City Podcast No. 17
We got another great episode of The Fight City Podcast for all you fight fans, hosted as always by Alden Chodash, as we recap the Errol Spence vs Mikey Garcia showdown, plus we offer a detailed look at the big Eye Of The Tiger double-header card at the Montreal Casino. Helping us out this week are contributors Patrick Connor and Zachary Alapi, both of whom offer their sage insights into the current boxing scene. Was Spence vs Garcia a mismatch? Should the fight have been stopped? What’s next for Errol Spence Jr.? Will Spence vs Crawford ever happen? How will Eye Of The Tiger Management keep all their young prospects active? Does any heavyweight outside of the top ten have the guts to come to Montreal and face Arslanbek Makhmudov? Is Artem Oganesyan as good as he looks? These and other questions discussed! Check it out:
“The fear is that Spence will outgrow welterweight before a superfight against Crawford can be made. But while Spence can make 147, he has plenty of options that Crawford doesn’t have, namely Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, or Manny Pacquiao. All three fights are major attractions, while “Bud” has sparse pickings to choose from in the Top Rank stable. We’ll see the kind of numbers Crawford’s April defense against Amir Khan generates, and then live in hope that Bob Arum and Al Haymon can make a deal, but the painful truth is that Crawford vs Spence, while being the best match the division can offer, is also the least likely to happen.” From “Fight Report: Spence vs Garcia” by Alden Chodash
