The third and likely final battle between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado is the next big fight on the boxing calendar and it’s time to start getting pumped for what should be another blood-and-guts war between two gladiators who always give the fans what they want: action, and plenty of it. As the video makes clear, this is a classic crossroads fight. The winner will go on to new opportunities, while the loser will be forced to contemplate retirement. Both men are coming off disappointing performances and need a victory to stay relevant. For Rios, it was a 12 round beating from Manny Pacquiao followed by an unimpressive DQ win over Diego Chaves. For Alvarado, it was a humbling in front of his hometown fans at the fists of Ruslan Provodnikov, followed by a 12 round decision loss to Juan Manuel Marquez. It can be argued that Rios and Alvarado are clearly past their peaks, but the bet here is that with both men desperate for a win, this Saturday night, in front of Alvarado’s hometown fans, they’ll give us one last battle to remember.
