The Five Ways of Attack
Today is the birthday of the martial arts wizard and pop culture icon, Bruce Lee, a genuine legend and a genius of hand-to-hand combat. So what better way to pay tribute than to re-visit one of Lee Wylie’s most popular videos, “Boxing and Bruce Lee: The Five Ways of Attack.” With some help from a star-studded cast of elite pugilists, including Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, Wylie illustrates in detail each of the time-tested “Ways of Attack” which Bruce Lee himself analyzed and popularized, thus creating “a universal set of principles designed to give clarity to the chaotic nature of fighting.” Check it out:
Merry Christmas ladies and gentlemen! What a gift this analysis truly is. I question where the great true teachers of the “sweet science” are in the sport anymore. Seems as if everybody wants to become the next great trainer; yet there are few who really teach. There are even fewer more who try to teach these so called “star” fighters. The money, promoters and the stardom are blinding some young fighters from continuing learning the art of this 100-plus year old sport. Thank you Mr. Wylie for another gem among the countless that you’ve given us. May 2015 bring us another great year of fisticuffs!
This is an amazing video with perfect examples of each tactic. Well done!
