Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays: Washington vs Mansour

Boxing fans and pundits have had plenty to say, both good and bad, about Al Haymon and his Premier Boxing Champions, including on this site, but the bottom line is this: there’s more boxing to watch on more television screens than maybe ever before, so much we find it hard to keep up. Manny Montreal put together a little preview video for tonight’s event, the latest Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays program on Fox Sports 1. The featured bout tonight will see rising heavyweight prospect Gerald Washington take a big step up in competition when he faces Amir Mansour.

This is an intriguing match-up of youth vs experience, with the youth side of the equation enjoying big advantages in size and weight, but Mansour doesn’t seem the least bit intimidated. “Gerald Washington has not even come close to fighting someone of my caliber,” Mansour told ESPN. “The match against me is going to introduce Washington to an entirely new world of fighting, and I’m sure he isn’t prepared for this type of fight.”

For Washington’s part, he’s looking forward to the challenge. “It’s exactly the type of fight I like,” said Washington after yesterday’s weigh-in. “This guy is going to bring it. I love to fight. I love when guys exchange.”

Washington vs Mansour goes down in a matter of hours and might be a heavyweight war to remember. Needless to say, Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays works for us!
